Typically for me, by midweek Shiny New Creative Project has devolved into a mini (or maybe a meta) rut of its own. My brain it is lazy, my bed it is comfy.
Disclaimers from Part 1 apply. Unless otherwise specified, all pictures are taken in natural light (which has been variable but mostly terrible this week), and no base was used unless otherwise specified.
No swatches today -- I'm going to do a big Fyrinnae swatchathon post soon :)
TUESDAY
EYE Tarnished cool gold gradient with (from lightest inner corner to darkest outer): Shinrikou, Sacred, Griffonrider and Newcastle. Outer 2/3 of lashline darkened with Sake & Sashimi.Pixi Black Tulip pencil on waterline.
CHEEK Sleek Rose Gold
BASE Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation 90 and Illusionist Concealer 000 under eyes
This was work-from-home day so I got to try out a scary new lipstick :D
LIP 1 Rimmel Kate Moss 04 -- I think I needed to go warmer on the eyes to counterbalance this; MUA consensus was that I needed a warmer (and less patchy) lip to go with the eyes. What say you? Option C: Other always welcome.
WEDNESDAY
EYE a mess mélange of greens: Eternal Innocence and Boytoy, with blackened sparkle Dokkalfar to line, iridescent sheer Electric Stardust to highlight, and green-flashing-taupe Atomic Afterglow to blend edges.
LIP Shiseido Lip Lacquer Disco
CHEEK Shiseido Peony (eyeshadow single)
BASE KATE Powderless Liquid BR-C set with Guerlain Meteorites Loose Mythic. Burberry Concealer 01 undereyes.
THURSDAY
EYE As well as killer greens, Fyrinnae make spectacular purples: Herbivore in the middle of the lid, blended out at either corner with Meerkat. Cuddlefish to darken outer v and airy pastel When I Grow Up lightly buffed into the socket. A touch of Freya to darken lashline.| with flash -- horrible light today |
LIP mix of YSL Glossy Stains 7 and 15 for a warm coral pink
CHEEK Rouge Bunny Rouge Gracilis
BASE Shu Uemura Pink/Purple UV Underbase Mousse, Vapour Illusionist Concealer 000 under eyes. RBR Sea of Tranquility highlighter.
FRIDAY
EYE As my whining about the crappy lighting/weather may indicate, I am so very over this whole autumn/winter thing now. Summery turquoise/teal eye with Anemone on the lid, Pteradon winged outwards from outer v and Jaguar to line. Bastet as a golden highlight on the inner corner.CHEEK Illamasqua Katie
BASE Shu Uemura Pink/Purple UV Underbase Mousse, Burberry concealer 01 under eyes. Tiny bit of RBR liquid bronzer on high points.
I don't understand why you would call this a "rut". These looks are so complex and beautiful. I particularly love the messy green one and the last one, Anemone has to be mine!
ReplyDeleteI don't even want to share mine, because most of them are done using 2 e/s.
More e/s =!= better :P It actually means I didn't put much thought into it and kept adding stuff until it looked okay.... I bet yours are beautiful; they always are :P
DeleteOoh, did someone say Fyrinnae swatchathon?
ReplyDeleteAlso, the eyeshadow in the first look is SO GORGEOUS. love love love.
Deleteindeedy! Although it'll be slightly mournful, since WHY ERRYTHING DISCONTINUED WHY.
DeleteAlso...it looks like I missed out on Anemone, I shouldn't have waited:(
ReplyDelete:( I only have a wee sample, should've gotten a full size!
DeleteI think all of these looks are fresh and gorgeous. I have to admit, I got distracted by how much I love that first dark lip colour. It's quite unusual and distinctive. I'm finding it difficult to choose between the antique gold and the plum-purple eye looks as a favourite.
ReplyDeleteyay, someone likes it! :D I have been searching for that colour for over a year, sadly don't think this formula is going to make the cut.
Deleteall the looks are gorgeous and fit you really really well.. Beautiful Kate!! it's such a pleasure for me to read your blog, and get a lot inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jade! Your comments always leave me with a smile :)
Deletethe PAHPLE <3
ReplyDeletehehe :D I admit pretty much that whole look is on my "must buy full size" list now.
DeleteAh, I really like Wednesday's green look! Fyrinnae's shadows are so complex and beautiful, but I never know exactly what to do with them other than just slapping them on one at a time. Thanks for the ideas!
ReplyDeleteI think Rose Gold's warmth and the slight reddish tone in your hair throws me off a little on the Kate Moss lipstick. It's still a pretty neat color!
Aw thank you! I think we have the same reaction, just behave differently as a consequence -- I'm a maximalist by nature.
DeleteThat look definitely needs tweaking -- the blush was something I hadn't thought of, so thanks :)
You look a friggin' mazing in that purple lipstick - seriously girl, AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteNooooo :*
DeleteI got Pteranodon as a sample and I thought it was going to be difficult to use it because is really bright but it looks so good on you...I will give it a try. I love the complexity on Fyrinnae shadows, I just want to buy more. Thanks so much for doing this!
ReplyDeleteBlue-greeny shades are tricky for me as well, but this one is really well balanced :) I thought I'd have to keep it as an accent but it works in a bolder placement too.
DeleteThough they're ALL gorgeous, I think I'm most partial to the look from Thursday. I love the purple shimmery shadow--so pretty!! Though Friday's lips also stood out for me. I am always hearing so much about Fyrinnae pigments but have never bought anything from them before. Might have to do so...
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased with how the purple look turned out -- it's my favourite too :)
DeleteFor years I put off ordering Fyrinnae, but once you start, you WILL end up collecting everything they make!
I love the creativity of your eye looks, wow! I hope to one day amass a ginormous Fyrinnae collection as well ;) but we'll have to see how my pressing turns out, haha. Disco and the GS 15 mixes look amazing on you; the mixes almost look like Genial.
ReplyDeleteschmeativity :P
DeleteI love your shiny one track mind :D
You are so cute. I love all your looks! Your lips are so beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteSandra
thank you so much, Sandra! *smooches*
DeleteFetch my fainting couch, that first look is gorgeous! *shamelessly copies*
ReplyDeleteAlso: I recall in comments somewhere you were going to do a review of Silk Naturals? Was it that bad? :D
I bought a bunch of samples a month back and my general opinion can be best summarised: NOPE.
Oh dear, realised that didn't come across as intended...
DeleteNOPE as in, THIS WHOLE THING JUST NO.
Not as in, "nope, not that bad."
Alternated between doing absolutely nothing (I think I tried ALL their damn serums)and breaking me out whilst doing absolutely nothing. I regret the money spent on shipping. Drearily back to Aveeno daily moisturiser and rosehip oil it is...
lol! I get you and could pretty much C&P your comment as my review. Out of sheer bloody-mindedness I tried every one of my dozen samples and my skin HATED them all.
DeleteNext year I might dip a toe into Garden of Wisdom stuff with low low expectations. Have you tried anything from them?
Cool golds = win! I've got my fingers crossed for Polar Bear from my recent order.
ReplyDelete(Which I won't get until Dec. b/c I thought it would be all wise and stuff to ship to Colorado in advance of my own arrival.)
But I'm swooning for your purples! I'm glad I picked Meerkat.
Re: lipstick
Color = awesome. Balance = just a bit off. I even wonder if it would have come off a bit better in the slightly warmer lighting of your final photo (with the Kanebo). Or what if you totally go with the coolness and use a blush like Hippy Hippy Shake?
*whispering* I think I'm the only Fry-fan who doesn't like Polar Bear -- you must tell me how you like to wear it once you are united.
DeleteI feel like the lipstick washed me out so much going all-out gothic-consumptive-cool might be the best option.
1st, OMG about your talented ability to create these looks. So I cannot come close with my 'canvas' to any, but I can have a discerning eye, so there you go: Tuesday is not so much about your eyes or lips, but your blush IMO...the Sleek Rose Gold is a bit too girly for the stronger lip and slightly nudge to gothic glam. Perhaps something in a nude or cooler rosy sphere would do,only really lightly.
ReplyDeleteWednesday your Shiseido Peony totally matches the freshness of the 'messy' greens you described, and your perky pink/fushia lip.
You're totally right -- my thinking only got as far as "the gold in rose gold would echo the eye nicely!" lol
DeleteI love pink/green combos :)
I aboslutely love first look, I'm obsessed with super dark lips...
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog, love it and love your hair! ;)
Thank you so much :D Your blog is amazing -- so slick.
DeleteKate, The vampy lips looks fab on you!! I'm trying to decide if vampy lips go with pinkish/plumish blush or just a contour hmmm... Vampire look is not a good look around toddlers, for sure :-) must somehow make it friendlier & less-vampire-ish.
ReplyDeleteClaire
I never know what babies are going to coo at -- the ones of my acquaintance all like sparkly eyeshadow though :)
DeleteI'm inspired by your colourful EOTD to come out of my neutral bubble today! I love Thursday and Friday's looks the best...
ReplyDeleteyay! Can't wait to see :) You always have such an elegant take on things.
DeleteYou are just a vision of elegance and beauty, ALWAYS! <3
ReplyDeleteLAUREN *clings* now you are MINE.
DeleteLove all the looks, but Tuesday's eyes is my favourite
