More Shu Uemura Prestigious Bordeaux Looks

Yep, still in love with this palette.

The two looks I'm going to show you today both play into the rosy eyeshadow trend which seems to dominate this year's holiday collections (Lisa Eldridge has a great video showcasing Chanel's take here).

1. Harmonious haze i.e. a more organic version of the first look here
Bronze silk smooth (top right) all over lid and lower lashline as a base
Pink (middle left) packed over the centres of lid and lower lashline to bring out the silver sparkle
Gold glitter (bottom left) to blended in from inner corner
[RBR Automatic Eye Pencil Salome, Armani ETK waterproof mascara]

Cheek: Sula Girl Next Door
Lip: Fresh Sugar Rosé
Base: Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation 090 and Illusionist Concealer 000

Flash pic to give a better idea of the textures:

2. A cooler take, incorporating slightly more contrast both tonally and texturally.
Horizontal gradation from pink inner corner, through gold, to purple outer corner, socket blended and darkened with Rouge Bunny Rouge Sweet Dust Seriema.
Lower lashline surrounds the gold with more of the pink.
[GOSH white kohl, L'Oreal TFLWP mascara]

Cheek and Lip: Sonia Rykiel Sublime Lipstick 24
Base: Shu Uemura Tsuya UnderBase Mousse, Vapour Illusionist Concealer 000

  6. Your lashes always look amazing! I use my shiseido eyelash curler and a waterproof mascara but they droop down by the end if the day.

Your last look makes me want the palette!

  9. Continuing to resist the evil powers of Dora while slowly dying on the inside. Why you make me so sad?!

  10. Love love love your hair, as well as both looks, especially the eyes in the first one. <333

Also, I think I'm going to have to come to terms with the fact that the eyeshadows that work on you (translucent clear shades) are not necessarily the ones that work on me, although not completely mutually exclusive. The ones you find too heavy and opaque like Turandot suit me far more and end up with an effect on me analogous to the translucent shades' effect on you.

  11. Your hair is very becoming, very ingenue! Love the looks although I'm still on the border about this palette. Most pinks make me look sickly. This one looks great on you, though!

  12. Hi Kate,

Last night I saw your pictures, today I have the first look recreated with my stuff (I used Ebloui and lilac/pink from Wong Kar-Wai palette from last year and light gold from the same palette)It is not as good as yours but still serviceable. Now I need that pink and rosy brown. I knew it will end up like this... At the beginning I try to ignore your posts about PB, thinking that Wong Kar-Wai beats Uncle Karl (besides Wong's holographic palette is so much better than that evil Dora creature), purples in both palettes are comparable as well as blushes(though mine is creme and a bit sheer)etc., etc... But you continued posting more looks and it is a foregone conclusion... I ordered the palette first thing in the morning, argh!

But I will not get a new hair cut! No way! There has to be a limit! (totally lying, if I had similar hair and bone structure, I would have my hair cut two weeks ago... But I don't think curly and auburn hair would look the same :) sigh!)

    Love,

    Aylin
