Stash Consolidation: Fyrinnae

Since falling down the sparkly rabbithole in 2011, I've owned every single shade of eyeshadow made by Fyrinnae at some point (generous makeup buddies conspiring to spoil me with minis or samples during eyeshadow no-buys).

Since pressing my plethora of minis, I've been reaching for them much more frequently, especially since last year's Fyrinnae week (parts one, two, three, four) -- so frequently, that I've finished many a sample, and gained a clear idea of which shades I wanted to repurchase (in full sizes or further mini form) and which I really didn't use often enough to keep.

And now I present my final* forty Fyrinnae, pressed into Yaby 15mm pans, and housed in a neat Yaby 40-well palette (both from The Makeup Artist Boutique).
*subject to change at any time due to discontinuations, new releases or personal fickleness

Top Row Left to Right: AM Electric Stardust // Aye, Captain // OMGWTF // Bitey Tyrannosaur // Dragon's Wing // Ethereal Eire // Enchanting Otters // Mystic

Row 2: AM Futuristic Glamrock // Anemone // Dapper Mr Shark // Lorem Ipsum // AM Faerie Glamour // Jaguar // Boytoy // AM Madame&Eve's

Row 3:  Herbivore // When I Grow Up // AM Sequinned Master // Meerkat // Cuddlefish // Parental Advisory // AM Mystical Hedgehog // Wicked

Bottom Row: Nijiro // Bifrost // Lucky Charmed // Dressed To Kill // Newcastle // Sake & Sashimi // Dinosaur Plushie // Immortality

Pictures get deliberately increasingly fuzzy, to try and capture some of the complexity.

  1. Waaah! I swear I must have been operating on the same wavelength as you today, as I just ordered about 30 15mm eyeshadow pans and some other pressing tools and plan to do the same to my Fyrinnae... I might buy some more minis in the process :D

  2. Whoaaa NO KIDDING, Kate! I've always eyed most Fyrinnae shades longingly, but I have a no-loose-shadow policy so I have never taken the plunge. I knew in the back of my head they can probably be pressed, but I never really thought it'd be SO cool (just checked out your tutorial as well. Amazing)! Look how shiny these are!!!

  5. Ooooh, so pretty!! Such a gorgeous, varied palette. I really can't wait to see swatches, Kate! I recently acquired several RBR pigment samples and have been considering pressing them. I've never done it before though so I am a little nervous and might just practice with some old L'Oreal pigments first :P

    1. I am not brave enough to press RBR! :D They apply so nicely already and I don't have a problem picking up product from the sponge thingy so *lazy*

  6. I wish Fyrinnae would do this for a fee which I would gladly pay. :P

  10. I pressed mine a couple of weeks ago (10 samples) and some of them look better than others : ( probably something to do with quantities, but they are all usable (actually more than before, I hated the everywhere fall out). I put them in a small z pallete. I love to see yours looking so beautiful!

    1. It's so surprising how quickly I finished many of the minis once I had them all to hand in a nice palette. I hope you love yours in use :)

  11. Crey. I can't seem to find the 40-palette - just the one with e/s already in it.

OK I have a new ambition in life.
I either need to make myself one of these, or plan an elaborate heist to steal yours.

(How could you have parted with Velvet Vampire? or Conjouror? Wake Not The Dead?)

How easy/hard is it to keep this palette tidy? Do you end up with sparkles everywhere or is it relatively neat?

I'm eagerly awaiting swatches; I can feel another Fyr order coming on. I need PE anyhow.

    1. I vote heist *rigs up elaborate kitten-trapping system around palette* :P

And I totally said subject to change! lol in fact seeing them together makes me want to tinker already. VV may yet return; depends if Sultry Samhain keeps my heart. Wicked > Conjuror for me. WNTD has been discontinued!!!! Or it would take up an entire bloody row.

I am v. curious about the reformulated formula (post-Jan); really not a fan of their ready-pressed texture.

    2. *prowls*

I haven't tried Wicked, but I fell hard for Conjuror. Wicked looks so dark - I'm not having big success with the darker shades so far. I probably need some tips.

Meerkat sparkled so nicely in your palette I wore it today over Topshop Mystical crayon and really liked the combo.

I really want Fyr to bring back WNTD. do they ever respond to customer request/demand for resurrection?

    3. Wait, is it Wicked > Conjuror, or maybe Wicked > Sorceress? Conjuror is the kinda raspberry or burgundy base with teal shine, Sorceress is the one that looks a bit like Wicked if I'm not confused.

    4. Wicked > Conjuror! To me it's the cooler-base (truer purple), cooler-shimm (less green, more blue) version. It is about the same depth as C I feel -- base is not-quite-blackened (so doesn't have the issues that some blackened Fyrs, including Sorceress, do).

It's always worth emailing Fyr's lovely CS, but I think they tend to dc stuff only when the ingreds become inaccessible :/

    5. Aha! Well, I'm clutching Conjuror to my woman's breast, while adding Wicked to my wishlist!

I did a little more research and read something on Fyr's blog similar to what you said re: discontinuations - probably isn't any hope. Maybe they'll dupe it :D

  13. gah, that last phrase made you sound human instead of the superswatch-power I saw you for. I'm always like: how does she get her swatches so perfect? Ps: love your collection and I am curious for the camera/setting etc you use to for making your swatches so helpful

I just wait for decent natural light and take my pics in a place lit by 2 huge windows and a skylight. Cam is Canon 600D and I use a white balance lens cap to 'set' things :) VERY noobish.

    2. ah thanks, the lens-cap thingy is something I gotten explained this week. Ps: Impotent fist-shake? love it

  14. Oh man, I need to make a palette like that, though probably smaller. *iz jealous* And eagerly awaiting swatches!

But you are missing one of my veryveryvery favorites, Shenanigans - any particular reason it didn't make the cut?

    1. I love Shenanigans....on other people D: The base pulls orangey/brown and is awfully texturally heavy (foily) on me.

    2. Ah, a good reason :) It is definitely goldy-bronze on me!

  15. I would do very bad things to get my hands on that palette! XD
